S-Plasty
What is S-Plasty ?
Elliptical excision is a simple, standard, and the most popular method of surgically removing skin lesions. It works well on most lesions on most part of the body.
However, in certain situations, elliptical excision does produce resulting deformity that is cosmetically unsightly – dog-ears, depressed wound and unsightly scars.
Such complication occurs more frequently on contoured surfaces (such as face, arms, and legs) and not infrequently creates a cosmetic issue. In selected cases, S-plasty can produce a cosmetically satisfying result without the need of a more complex surgeries.
S-incision or S-plasty is commonly used in cosmetic surgeries to produce a fine scar that fits well into the treating area. Such are "S-Lift" a face lifting technique.
